With the OP saying they need the MQDs within a 'few weeks' I don't see any other reliable way than flying. Getting a CC is going to take time to process, get the actual card, make spend, and have that link and post to DL. Other promos like car rentals you have to actually complete the rental, then rely on the car company posting the points which can take a couple weeks after the rental.
If you apply for a DL Amex they give you the number immediately online for up to a $1,000 online purchase. So a Reserve purchase for $500 or a Platinum for $1,000 on a dummy Delta flight that you put on the card, get your 50 MQDs then cancel the ticket and get a 100% ecredit (not refund) is the way to go.
