For my last 2 rentals with Hertz I have been charged for fuel service (at the extortion rate of 10$ / gal) while I brought the car back with a full tank of gas .. (I have the receipt from filling up )
The first time there was no one checking in vehicles just a parking attendant blasting the standard phrase 'just leave the keys in the car , you are good to go ... ,
The second time there was someone checking in the vehicle but I was similarly told the same thing 'leave the keys in the car you are good to go ..."

I always declined the fuel service options and explicitly state to the gate attendant that "I will bring back the car with a full tank ..."

Prior to this past 1-2 month i have not had these fuel service charges added (that i recall) willy nilly even when there was no one checking the vehicle in ...


If this is retaliation for customers not pre-paying the fuel option (full tank with no refund) then this deserves a spot light to be shined on as fraudulent ... or is just customer service going downhill ?

What is everybody's experience .... ?
