On their website they list the US customer service number (the 833 number) and they note that it is open Los Angeles hours from 9am to 5pm. I called at 4pm and spoke to an agent. She helped me select seats for both legs of my flight and then emailed me the travel documents showing my seat selections.

This is just incorrect. I have economy via Alaska Miles. I called the US service number and picked a seat over the phone no additional costs.
