QF Award -> QR revenue interlining question , I don’t think that imposes an obligation on QF to protect you if delay.
Through check in, interline baggage and 735d protection
CX WILL interline to other oneworld airlines if travelling on separate PNRs are three separate benefits. If not one booking, QF is not obligated to provide the third even after it has conceded the first two (not collateral).
I don't think that the OP is expecting to be protected in case of missed connection.
The problem if connection is missed and a new ticket is bought is really the luggage. That's besides the cost of the new ticket.
Let me just provide additional wild thoughts.
Hopefully, QF won't check through the bags if the departure delay is expected to be 2 hours.
The ac used for QF127 at 10:15 is typically the aircraft from QR60 arriving from HND at 08:55. This is a narrow window.
If QR60 is heavily delayed, the checkin staff should know and the system would not allow checkthrough.
For example, QR127 departed 3h late on 15 April because QR60 landed 2.5h late.
In that case I would advise the OP to cancel the HKG-HEL award while in SYD (if possible). Then buy a new cash ticket when landing in HKG, clear immigration, collect the bags, and check at the new airline counter. Pad a 2 hour time after disembarking as the airline might have a one hour minimum checkin time. Maybe CX would even entertain the idea to rebook your award on CX when you call to cancel your award while in SYD. One can always hope
If bags have been checked through and with AY BP in hand, you can easily make the connection to the AY flight if you arrive one hour before AY departure (20:35). You can also ask the QF FAs to be among the first to disembark.in HK. I would not like to be in your shoes if you have been checked through and some unexpected delay make you arrive in HKG too late for the connection. Having the airline that you rebooked onto locate your bag and retag it might be an ordeal (I could be wrong). You will have to go to the transfer desk, maybe wait in line for some time, then get a multi-airline agent willing to contact whoever can help locate and retag your bags.
