This makes me think about whether it is advisable for AC to stick to the 3 hour rule for US lounges.
With the number of airports (4, or 3.5 depending on how you count EWR) that have both MLLs and UA lounges, and the number of PAX who would want/need to arrive >3 hours early, and even fewer who would consider this, the problem must be tiny.
It doesn't seem worth the effort to confuse PAX, and more importantly, to further confuse the perpetually confused MLL gate dragons.
