You will earn PQP on the following:
- Flights operated by United® and United Express®
- Flights operated by a Star AllianceTM partner airline and connecting partners
- Flights operated by Air Dolomiti, Azul, Edelweiss, Eurowings, Discover Airlines, Virgin Australia and Olympic Air
- Economy Plus® seat purchases or Economy Plus subscriptions
- Preferred seat purchases
- Paid upgrades on flights operated by United® and United Express®
- MileagePlus Upgrade Awards
- Award flights operated by United® and United Express®
- Eligible co-branded credit cards
If the flight is eligible for Premier credit, you’ll automatically earn PQP for the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges on United and United Express operated flights or tickets beginning with 016. For each U.S. dollar you spend (base fare + carrier-imposed surcharges) on United flights or flight tickets issued by United, you’ll earn one PQP. It’s also possible to earn PQP by redeeming MileagePlus miles for United or United Express award flights, or by using one of our eligible co-branded credit cards for everyday purchases.
For flights operated by a Star Alliance partner, connecting partner, or Air Dolomiti, Azul, Edelweiss, Eurowings, Eurowings Discover, Virgin Australia and Olympic Air on tickets that do not begin with 016, the flight will earn PQP based on a partner-specific formula, which is award miles* divided by either 5 or 6, depending on the partner. Please see more on
how to earn Premier qualifying credit with our partners.
Certain specialty tickets, including but not limited to unpublished, consolidator, group, tour and opaque fares do not earn PQP. We will credit the account of the member who travels, not the member who purchases the ticket, like we do with PQF.
Starting January 1, 2023, PQP may be earned on the miles portion of MileagePlus Upgrade Awards (MUA) in addition to the PQP earned based on the cash portion of the MUA co-pay fee. PQP earned from MUA may take up to one week after departure to post to your account. PQP earned from miles redeemed and PQP earned from the co-pay fee will post to your account separately and may post at different times.
