Eventually, I had booked without FF details, but found that adding the details afterwards did work via the site.
I ended up booking on the SAS app where I could apply my EB and my wife's UA MP, the latter being a moot point since the flight is in early November. However, on the website I kept being stuck whatever I did. I just now saw that I can add FF numbers, even mileage plus. Yesterday this was not the case.
So kudos to SAS for having a good app....and now a good website
