As an American, it's all a bit embarrassing. Reminds me how, when I was younger, I wanted to buy American cars. Nobody thinks that way anymore. Even ignoring any safety issues, the narrowbody Airbus give you a noticeable extra inch of seat width, and the widebody 777 has super narrow seats in coach
