IME MCGCs at WM tend to default to credit instead of debit. I don't know if you are still able to do the "change payment" method trick to change it to "Debit" so that it can qualify for the type to load correctly. The "change payment" button method was always tricky but as soon as you swipe the card you had a very short window like 2 secs to hit the "change payment" method but I don't know if that still applies since Walmart keeps changing POS card terminals and I haven't used MCGCs to load anything for a long long time.
