It clearly makes more commercial sense to BA for them to fly to secondary US cities rather than major cities elsewhere. More demand, less direct competition, better use of aircraft and crew...
I also suspect better connecting traffic from european shorthaul to US destinations. Being based in krk, flying 2 hours west to go east does not always make sense
