In my view, the larger issue is ultimately we all begin to ignore the law. For instance, while it's a small matter, I would never have entertained flat out ignoring a court summons, even a jury one, but this time everyone around essentially advised, "they don't put anyone in jail, and they're going to go after you?"
This isn't a path we want to descend into where most of us just begin to ignore laws. This isn't going to turn out the way some think.
