Let's just say that despite I work in tech, I am not sophisticated enough to care about how an app or its underlying technologies work. If an app tells me inaccurate information, it's bad UX, period. It's ridiculous to expect the users of an external app to know the technical details of location services. If anyone in my team suggests that we don't take control of the end to end UX, I would get that person out of my team in no time.
