Exactly this, and consider that if you go into the Hill Country, many of the roads are 2-lanes (one lane each direction), and can be windy. After all, it is the Hill Country.

I would suggest Marble Falls, it is one of my favorite places to go in that area. But if you want to get out in a hurry, I have a feeling it will be gridlock leaving.
