It's actually much harder from a systems perspective to interline UA-UA than UA-Partner. Many agents don't know how to do it.
Last Sept I had snagged an award seat IAH - AKL on ANZ via Virgin Atlantic. Agent had no issues interlining from my UA LGA flight thru to Auckland. As a oneworld guy 85% of the time this blew my mind!
