I've reached the same conclusion as you, but that's not thanks to any definitive answer from BA on the matter.
And that's why I'm still confused - yes it talks about existing status, but when it comes to upgrading your status during the transition period, it still suggests that I 'could' be on for maintaining it till April 26 - it's again a case of trying to figure out what BA means, versus what they say, versus the contradictions in what they say.
I can just see that there is clearly some back-channeling going on to BA here, and was hoping someone may have got an unambiguous, definitive answer. I hardly think I'm an edge case here - lots of people are going to achieve a higher tier (be it bronze/silver/gold/GGL) during transition, yet not with TPs earnt solely within that transition period...
