I don’t think there’s any reason to believe this is true. For the past two years I’ve spent between three and four million dollars a year across a couple different miles cards (Citi included) that all have limits between 25k-50k.
In some cases I’ll pay the card off every two days or so. Last year at the start of the AA year for example I charged about $200,000 on the Citi card in month one to wrap up EXP for the year, which took about 7-8 payments in the same billing cycle.
it’s all legitimate business expenses from a wide variety of vendors, including software licenses, travel, supplies, you name it.
I have been doing this for years and none of the issuers have complained at all. They mostly increase the limits and give me better offers for new products.
