Nonsense. UA offered to re-book on UA metal which is what the weather waiver does - these waivers do not allow for OAL rebooking.
When your flight was delayed to the point of a misconnect, now this is an irop situation and UA will rebook OAL in such cases.
This is exactly as it was supposed to happen.
