The only thing about originating in TYO you miss out on a lot of the Asian +3K segments . Still you can get a DONE4 to yield 210K LPs fairly easy.
Good to know. I did put in an AA segment, DFW-DUB instead of direct DFW-DOH, but might try it given my relative time constraints.

Operating, marketing(flight number) & ticketing airline can be 3 different airlines. Marketing and ticketing are not the same. In your case ticketing airline will be AA (001 ticket). Could have a JAL marketed(flight number) with UL Sri Lankan operated (codeshare)
Great information here, thanks,

I'm saving the above itinerary!
I've set up my DONE4 and found the flights, just need to call and get it priced, or corrected:

As mentioned in original post, I decided to fly directly home from Tokyo on March 10, and will be going to see the cherry blossoms in D.C. instead of Tokyo in April. Then I'll head out again in November to take advantage of better weather in New Zealand and Australia. I think it will be worth about 145000 LP/RDM if I've calculated correctly (and I've ignored any class of service bonus on flights other than JL and QR). I will likely have some other flying over the summer, and I expect 65K LP from Barclay CC, so should requalify for EXP one more year. Maybe I should consider purchasing another to get home from Tokyo; they've gone up considerably since I first started planning several months ago. Trying to time the market though, could be tricky
As usual, thank you, I am grateful for the advice.
