I have no direct experience but Indigo has a ton of codeshare agreements with foreign airlines but especially with QR and TK where they have to check in people in India and then fly them to DOH/IST for onward connections (the US probably being a large amount of them). I wouldn’t worry about them not knowing. Indians and Green Cards / H1B go hand and hand. You will not have been the first.
