My point was simply that choice existed BKK-IST - direct and indirect (paid and award). It’s up to OP to decide which of those meet requirements - it’s not as if they had no choice other than TG’s 788 ….
ExpertFlyer reports daily 3x TK, and 1x TG direct. TG is usually a 359, so it seems OP was perhaps ‘unlucky’ TG operated a 788.
