“Prolonged taxi rides” sounds rather appealing to me, especially in a country that I’ve never been before. Security lines not so much but I’ve been warned frequently of that so I am prepared. The likes of Tom Bradley or London Heathrow in peak hours are also not exactly pleasurable, not quite sure how much worse China can be but I shall see.
In any case, I will make sure to report back and leave reviews on every airplane and hotel that I encounter. There’s a severe lack of English language travel reports when it comes to China which is quite astounding. Appreciate all the great tips and advice on here!

Years and years of travel in China has likely worn them down. The airport experience is nowhere near as bad as they are making it out to be.
Those new airports are simply awesome to witness for yourself. And like I mentioned, if you check out PriorityPass, you'll find some added benefits for many of those airports are to be had.
You'll have a great time, despite some here wanting to put the kibosh on it.
