Today was the first time I arrived on an int'l flight through the new SEATAC IAF. Often I end up going through another USA gateway. My last int'l arrival at SEA was in 2020?
What a clusterf**k. I'll echo some earlier comments.
Things started off nice as you walk across various elevated bridges/areas with very nice views of Mt Rainier and the surrounding area....then you arrive at Baggage Claim and you are told "Bags First!"
I started down the escalator and the baggage claim (combined with immigration) was a zoo. A Lufthansa flight had just arrived, an Emirates, and so had a few others (Delta), I was on an ANA flight. It was not an inviting scene. We wish you a pleasant welcome to Seattle -- just kidding!!
I flew business,so my bags arrived quickly and with Global Entry made it out relatively quickly...but the lines for the other immigration lines were snaking around the baggage carousels. And all those people were carrying/wheeling their luggage. What a stupid CBP idea to have "Bags First" at a major airport. Also the escalator down is built so close to the carousels...you just get off and it's a huge crowded scrum.
Yes, we installed this artwork above the baggage claim carousels to distract you from our inept planning.
