MXP is so much more than just a long walk. You enter the departure lobby and have to find a board that tells you the Delta check-in counter. Not bad, the numbers are in order, so you start walking. Then you find yourself in a hallway that looks like airport staff offices. There is a security guard halfway down the hall that checks your boarding pass. Am I in the right place? Just keep walking. Then you find yourself in a smaller departure lobby that you realize only has US airlines. But the employees are all MXP contractors, so why not just have the counters in the larger lobby? All checked in, where is security and passport control? It’s back at the original larger departures lobby. As you walk down the hallway again, you notice the security person is no longer there. What was he checking? After that it’s a fairly normal passport and security screening, a lounge that’s pretty basic, and a decent walk to the gate.
