Something tells me UA would rather have their people sit than add employees / move things back what they use to provide - it's cheaper than actually really caring about employee safety.... UA really messed this one up IMHO....
Shorter service times likely means that the galley loads for drinks can be lighter as well. Less drinks means additional cost savings.
The sad truth is that everything today is about money. This is a pure cost-cutting measure.
PG delivers meal service to everyone on a 1 hour flight from BKK-USM. Their FAs are often getting into their jumpseats mere minutes from landing. My bet is that their injury rate is no higher as a result.
