Not sure if this is the same project, but due to a very tight connection yesterday I ended up using the Flight Connections route (one that comes out towards the North of the terminal) and that section had a new scanner. It was 3 lanes per machine (instead of the usual 4), nothing came out of any bags and the human scanner portion were just open 2 walls and you placed your arms down away from the body (instead of over your head in previous scanners). All was pretty efficient and painless.
