I made 4 long haul J/F bookings this year using LifeMiles - on CM (Copa): GPS-UIO-PTY-JFK, on ET (Ethiopean): EWR-IAD-ADD-JRO and on AI: EWR-BOM, EWR-DEL.
For me, that is a pretty good return for a single year. Now, has it been a walk in the park, searching and booking those tickets? Not by any stretch of imagination.
But, considering the darn good returns I get from the miles I buy @1.21 cents/mile, I've learned to put up with the glitches on their website.
To each their own, I guess ...
That's great, I have booked BR, LX, LH, TG, SQ all in Biz, usually longhaul SE Asia to Europe and vv. except SQ which was SIN-CGK-SIN in Biz and that over the last 24 months.
Awesome, we both known how to work with the quirks of LM and still generate what we feel is good value for our bought miles. I'm with you on that and I never said it was bad value in the first place (though I applaud your braveness for flying AI, my experiences with the carrier were dreadful, but I digress).
What this thread is about is newer problems and recent quirks that seems to have emerged that at least some of us who have been around LM and this forum for many years have hit repeatedly in the last few weeks.
I think no one (at least not me) is saying no flights can be found and booked / ticketed on LM as that would be incorrect, but there are specific scenarios that have emerged that cause challenges for some of us. E.g. so far I have not found a way to get past this dreaded E2.1 error for my desired SQ intra Asia flights. Others, IIRC, who have booked ET before now seem to struggle with getting it booked, even when seeing flights.
If you got an idea on those items specifically or a recent success that matches what we are trying to do then I'm all ears.
