I second that question about a thread for data points. I've seen a lot of people who won't bid over the minimum, but the data points that are available tell the story of how minimum bids are not always successful. If your level of desire is pretty high, then bidding above the minimum makes sense. I'd recommend looking at the thread for paid upgrades to see if your route appears in there. It might give you an idea of how low the price ever goes, and then you might consider hedging in between that number and the minimum bid.
