How to book your long-haul upgrade at LH.com
Call up your travel itinerary under My Bookings. There will be an automatic check on which flights in your itinerary can be upgraded. Confirm your choice for the flights that you wish to upgrade. You can, of course, book upgrades for other flights at a later time (up to a maximum of 4 hours before departure). If you have sufficient award miles in your account and are logged into your LH.com profile, you can decide whether you want to pay for the upgrade with money or miles. Unfortunately, a combination of both means of payment is not possible in one booking procedure.
Finally, enter your payment information and confirm your purchase. A booking confirmation will be sent to the email address you have provided.

Does the ticket have to start in Germany or other markets would suffice?
For example if I buy my P ticket starting in DUB to LAX via MUC, can I still bid for the upgrade to A for the MUC-LAX sector?

I hope there are not too many takers for €1499 for a one way F upgrade, otherwise eVouchers will become quite useless.

I have a ticketed D class FRA-LAX segment in my profile, but am not offered to upgrade with this option. It is however part of an ex-MNL ticket.

I am currently booked on 6feb16 FRA-TPA in Premium Economy. I phoned LH today but in order to upgrade I also need to pay a reservation change charge or Euro200 on top of the upgrade.
Are there different charges towards departure? (As economy can also bid to be upgraded to PE)

I was trying to upfare from S-class to Q-class on a ticket I had booked within 24 hours of doing it on the LH website, but the agent (US line with Canadian agent) said that she would have to charge the change fee - even with the *same* flight, *same* day - so I told her to cancel the ticket. (Free within 24 hours. She had to check to see if she could do it for free, even though I told her 2 other of her colleagues confirmed that this was possible!)
I then couldn't find an option to book with the precise fare classes I required, so I called back to the US line (apparently Indian agents cannot ticket any longer - only can purchase on the website - ridiculous!) and paid the $20.00 per pax, which saved me the fare difference from the H-class the website wanted to book me in.
Now, on to the other reason for posting in this thread.
I now see that we can put a "bid" for an upgrade from Y to C online when on LH.com - lowest bid is $765 or thereabouts.
I don't think that there is a particular thread for this option (I see for PE upgrades, not for biz), so I thought that it might belong here.
Question: Would your fare basis remain the same if you "bid" for the upgrade (which is equivalent to using miles @USD 0.015/mile) or would you move into a revenue biz fare? I gather we would not.
This upgrading semi-fiasco almost warrants one buying the P-fare for almost the same amount of equivalent value - which was available a week ago, but I had some upgrade instruments available...

Plusgrade is for PE and C nowadays. The booking class changes to P/Z when you win the bid, but fare basis stays the same. So you earn more miles, but stay in the same restrictive fare corridor.

Thanks for your replies. I think I am booked in N class which is not entitled for upgrades at all. When I try to upgrade via the plus grade page it doesn't allow me to bid for an upgrade to business class.
I can see business does have 6 seats left. Will trying to buy an upgrade at the airport be the same procedure as now with the call centre?
