One more try. Two agents said I can earn a Mosaic PYP this year and P(ick) it next year. And this time I have it in emails. So if nothing changes in my account, I will:
- Use my Mosaic 1 PYP in December 2023 to add 20 tiles to my current 34, becoming Mosaic 2 through December 2024 and earning another PYP.
- Hold onto that PYP into 2024. If it disappears on Jan. 1, then ask [email protected] for it back.
- If at some point in 2024 I am between 30 and 49 tiles but not getting to 50, I'll take the 20 tiles. Otherwise I'll take something else.
- And my wife is in the same situation. So she also should upgrade this year. We always fly together, so it doesn't make much sense for her to try for Mosaic next year. So probably her 2024 PYP should go to something else. Too bad Mint Priority doesn't apply to a companion.

said "Each time you qualify for a new level of Mosaic, you will be able to select a perk from the Mosaic Perks you pick menu. We encourage you to select your perk as soon as you earn it but it can be selected any time between when it was earned and 12/31 of the following year.

said "Mosaic customers can choose from six different Perks You Pick, which are unlocked at Mosaic 1 and each time you reach a new Mosaic level. ... We encourage you to select Perks You Pick as soon as you earn them, but they can be selected at any time between when they are earned and December of the following year."
Another agent said "
Once the Perk You Pick is selected you would have the remainder of the calendar year to use it." The question was about selecting the PYP, not once it is selected - and I'm not sure how to apply her answer in any case. The other two sounded like they were paraphrasing the same document. So I found their answer credible by a vote of 2 to 0, with one spoiled ballot. And I stopped asking. 
More information. And no guarantee that anything JB agents tell me is true.
I had 47 tiles and a Mosaic Perk You Pick that I was holding until the end of the year, in case I got 7 more tiles without using the MPYP.
Multiple JB phone agents had told me that I would not get tiles from a JB segment on a flight booked through Icelandair. But a week after the flight, in came 6 tiles, Mosaic 1 status through 2024, and a MPYP.
Multiple Mosaic email agents had told me that the new MPYP would replace the old one. If that's true then I just lost a MPYP.
But two phone agents looked at my account and told me that I have two MPYPs now. Everyone agrees that the MPYP(s) will remain usable until 12/31/24.
So I'm doing nothing until 1/1/24. Then I'll use a MPYP for 20 tiles and see if I still have the other one.
It's a shame that the only way to accurately know how this system works is to see how it worked.
