Competition is a wonderful thing for people flying in/out of JFK, but not for AA. That is my point. Just about any given flight and day, I find JFK flights are emptier than DFW flights (tonight, for example, JFK-MAD has a few more J seats, a few more PE seats, and about 30 more MC seats still empty compared to DFW-MAD).

And of course JFK has more demand, by far, but it's also very, very well served. You can't even induce any more demand by bringing in new flights. So, unless and until there is a JFK - Europe route that is consistently full, then why throw more planes at it? (assuming you can get the landing rights anyways) Better for AA (and me, personally) to put those planes based in DFW where 900 flights connect in and out a day.
