Agreed. I have hit lifetime SM, er, GM and have 100k rollover MQM = 1 extra yr of DM benefits for 60k spend
I have a partner with 750k MQM who is PM with 100k MQM
If I can do a 150k MQM spend with a circle of family and friends = 900 MQM AND DM waiver for 2024 status AND rollover 1 extra yr of status

Benefits 2 yrs of DM - Cost 150k MQM = 4c each = 6000 less 3300$ miles = 2700$ for 2 yrs of 4 GUCs, 8RUCs
Time is of the essence for decisions to make reg cards and spend by year end

Some people sitting on rollover MQMs have a decision to make regarding MQD waiver and that requires spend on Amex DL cards before the end of the year.
Others might want to jam on Amex spend to get more MQMs to increase the amount rolled over. That also has to be done this calendar year.
The value of the status "extension" is directly related to whether choice benefits are included.
