There has to be more to the $2500 head start than simply holding a credit card. I could understand if this head start took the place of the MQD waiver at $25,000 spent, but you shouldn't get it just for paying the annual fee. It would make the most sense to need to spend $25,000 to get the initial $2500 head start, and from then on you would earn the previously announced 1:10 or 1:20 MQD per credit card spend.
