Your definition of "nothing" does not match the actual dictionary definition of "nothing" and you keep misusing the word to falsely present your point when it comes to flight spend and now annual fees. Those with the Reserve ARE paying**. They're paying $550 a year for Club Access. And guess what - the problem of crowding is going to remain at the biggest hubs (particularly ATL & JFK) because that's where those who are limited on their visits are going to use their visits - when they have the layovers here. I counted my numbers. I've visited a SC 22 times so far in 2023. About half of those have been an out-stations where crowding wasn't an issue at all and sometimes the visit was an in-n-out in less than 20 minutes. About enough time to grab a quick snack and hit the restroom. I doubt these types of visits are what's contributing to club crowding yet these are exactly the type of visits that DL is killing with this change. Yet people with DL Reserves & AmEx Plats will still be spending 2-3 hours in the busiest clubs at ATL and JFK.
**In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit I pay "nothing" for my Reserve Card since AmEx waives annual fees on its cards for military members. There was a point where I was paying for the Reserve before I learned of this benefit and had no problem doing so because when I was still paying, between unlimited SkyClub access and the Companion Certificate, along with the ability to help obtain/maintain Medallion status, I was happy paying the annual fee and saw value in the card and was planning to keep the card and pay the annual fee once the time in the military came to an end. Most card holders are paying $550 though so again, they are not paying "nothing" for lounge access, as you keep trying to put it.
