Continuing that logic, everyone flying for business with tickets paid by their employer shouldn’t receive the status, perks, place in the upgrade lane, and even the Skymiles, since they are not spending money at all. Employers should receive the bonus points and use them for award business travel.
A very slippery slope there 
A friend of mine works for Ikea North America and she always said that years ago Ikea would not allow their employees to earn miles and instead Ikea Corporate earned the miles.
