You get RUCs. Which I know some people complain about not being able to use, but I’ve usually been able to find flights going where I want that have RUC availability at the time of booking. If you can confirm an RUC at booking, the fact that there are 30+ Diamonds and Plats on the upgrade list at the gate is irrelevant.
