It seems to me that the game of travel industry loyalty programs is about trying to avoid the unpleasant parts of travel, and we’re left to always chase a moving target so we don’t have to have crappy travel experiences. Can we stop

It’s not a radical idea as it’s been tried before.
EOS, MaxJet,SilverJet and MGM Grand Air all tried and quickly failed. The latest attempt was Breeze Airways who provided a very nice cabin on their A220-300 aircraft. They have tossed in the towel and will cram 137 seats in the aircraft. 7 more than Delta.
