Emirates lounge in Melbourne. Two kids about 7 or 8 years old running back and forth screaming at the top of their lungs. Unbelievable behaviour. I went over and sharply told them to shut up. They did, but I was then approached by a lounge attendant who leant down to me and said "the man over there has told me to come and tell you off for speaking to his kids. Sorry about this, nothing I can do. Please pretend I am telling you off. But thanks anyway." And the lady across from me thanked me for getting them to shut up and said something about "parents today!". Boy was I glad when I saw them board a different flight from me!
Geez. When you don't discipline your own children, don't blame others for doing so, instead you should be thanking them! Otherwise others' reactions to them would be even more severe when they grow up.
I wonder what would've been the father's reaction if you asked the lounge attendant, "would it be okay if after I pretend to listen to you telling me off, then we give each other a big joyful hug?" and the attendant says yes.
