Very frustrating experience using companion pass as I noticed the pass can only book into higher fare bucket.
I was looking at some fare with G bucket available, when searching 2-pax on AC.com without the pass, the system can price it in G-bucket both ways. As soon as I apply the companion pass, only T-bucket fare pops up and it's a few hundred dollar more expensive.
Tried booking with the T-fare and call in to ask for a change, regular reservation agent says it can price with the lower fare bucket, but I won't be able to get any refund as I booked in flex. While it's fully refundable plus change fee waived within 24 hours of booking, the system can't issue partial refund on a flex fare. Was also told the change need to go through the companion pass line, which I was transferred to 4 times, 2 of which I was on hold for more than 1 hour with no one picking up the phone and got disconnected, and the other 2 times the system just said there was no staffed agent on that line.
