Once we collect bags and get through customs/immigration do we have to go landside and bag drop or as read in the wiki will we be able to get the bags retagged and placed on transfer belt?
I’m not overly bothered about heading airside and going back through security but I’m pretty sure bag drop won’t be open as it will be around 5 hours before departure that we would likely have cleared immigration.
I don't know about the transfer of baggage between carriers on separate tickets, but SEA is a major Alaska hub and, if you do go land-side, their counters will almost definitely be open whenever you arrive.
Alaska ticket counter hours, 02:30-12:05
Alaska Baggage hours, 04:30-01:00.
Alaska's page says they won't accept a passenger's bag until four hours before a flight, but I don't know if a separate international boarding pass will waive that period. It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask if they could check it as soon as you've gotten past immigration.
