On my Samsung Galaxy:
  • plug in the cable & it works as long the TV is set to the correct HDMI port. Sometimes you'll get a prompt on the TV to switch HDMI connections
  • Some TVs can do it wirelessly: from "quick settings" --> "SmartView"
With the cable it basically mirrors the screen--you'll probably want to place the phone in landscape mode.

With Smart View you can turn off the screen & do a lot more. Details HERE.
