If I had been offered economy transport and refused it, I MIGHT see your point. But I was told after asking multiple times that I was going to be accommodated in Mint, and in the ensuing hours, lost the opportunity to be rebooked on JetBlue the next day (it was now two days out). I bought a business class ticket, JetBlue cancelled my flight, and I incurred expenses to get myself home since they were not able to accommodate me in the class of service I purchased. It’s absolutely not unreasonable to ask that they cover expenses to get me to my destination, and we’re literally talking about $100 here. I’ve definitely been reimbursed for similar charges in the past, when it wasn’t also combined with incompetent agents making the situation far worse than it already was.
Sorry to hear about your terrible experience - sounds like the agent who downgraded you definitely didn't know what they were doing. The LGA agent probably has never had to deal with Mint customers since LGA doesn't have Mint.
She could see that it was a Mint booking, but said my only options would be to take the flight in economy and ask for a refund of the difference in miles after the fact, cancel and refund entirely, or be booked on the next Mint flight available… in 2 days
The first part of the option she offered you ("a refund of the difference in miles after the fact") is completely incorrect and not at all what B6's contract of carriage says. If you choose to take the economy option, they are required to refund you at "an appropriate" price. But, the latter two options are options that are spelled out in the contract of carriage.
Here's a related post where I looked at the policy:

Did you end up getting a refund for your Mint booking? Sadly, I don't think Jetblue owes you anything beyond that legally.
