Holiday Inn San Francisco - Golden Gateway
San Francisco, CA, USA
What is your Priority Club status? Platinum
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes very!
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked "Standard Room". Received two category upgrade to "1 King Bed Premium Corner View" without asking. Dramatic panoramic views to the north and east. Could see almost every tourist site except bridges (Coit Tower, Alcatraz, Fort Mason, Transamerica Building, downtown towers, even the Port of SF).
How are the rooms? Clean and barely any wear. Included both iron and steamer as well as refrigerator but no microwave. One of the nicer Holiday Inn rooms I've seen lately. Only complaint is very very poor ventilation. Whenever the air conditioning was off the room became very stuffy.
How is the exec. lounge? N/A
What was good and what was bad?
Good- Incredible view from clean room
- Very busy yet didn't wait for elevators nor hear a lot of noise
- Right next to the beginning of the California Ave Cable Car line, so if you want to ride a cable car this is the best place to pick it up without waiting in a long line
Bad- Ventilation in room very, very poor
- Location is residential, away from usual tourist attractions aside from cable car. Could be good or bad depending on why you are there
- Restaurant extremely busy for breakfast. Looked like it was counter service. I didn't bother. (Also there is a Starbucks right next door.)
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? One of the cheapest points options in SF. I needed to be in this neighborhood, so location was fine for me, but as a tourist it may be annoyingly far from tourist attractions. If you're fine with the location, the hotel is great!
