I had a cruise out of FDF a few years ago and that's when I too discovered how little lift there is between the U.S. and the French Caribbean.
Americans just don't go there even though both islands are very very French.
Ended up taking Norwegian from FLL to FDF and American back. Of course Norwegian doesn't operate the route any longer.
