So exactly 1 week after filing a claim at prepaid gift balance for the "bad" Kroger $500 MCGC (it was one of the old $5.95 ones, BTW) I have a replacement card in hand. Impressed with the quick turnaround. The new card even has my name embossed on it.

Wanted to give a big shoutout to everyone in thread & the other
thread (Serious Problems with US Bank Gift Card Issues). I've bought the
new repackaged V/MCGC without issues until I purchased a compromised card mid-May. Getting a replacement card issued has been a nightmare with the runaround from US Bank - but I finally received a new card.
File a CFPB complaint (this also provides another data point to the CFPB on US Bank's scrupulous business practices & lack of fraud prevention and mitigation). As someone mentioned in this or the other thread, US Bank need to implement a way to block compromised cards from being purchased at POS. Maybe Kroger & US Bank have implemented this with cards not scanning at checkout.
