It doesn’t surprise me that Condor tells you to check in with Tarom - not uncommon that airlines can’t give you boarding passes for “partners”. When I check in with AS, I generally don’t get my Condor (DE) boarding pass… and vice versa. But it can be done separately, hopefully online so you are checked in when you get to FRA.

Make sure they check your bags through (if you have any).
Well, after careful consideration I changed the second flight to LH1420 at 2:20 pm, which extends my layover to 4 hrs 30 mins which I believe it's more reasonable and also don't need to do a terminal change. Everything is in T1.
True, I also had to pay an extra 40 euros o top of what I already paid, but in the end it might be worth it. It was not a change fee I was told - reservation being within the last 24 hours - just a difference in the price.
