I have had four truly bad cards in my life where the funds were drained within minutes of purchase.
They sent me a new card each time, so no monetary loss.
I think that by allowing a card to be loaded, but coding the card to not being allowed to be have spending on it, they were trying to fix the problem of thieves registering a card then monitoring to see when it is loaded. I have had this three or four times. A few times they allowed the "held" cards to be activated, but sometimes they mail a new card. And as with most of the participants here, that is out of thousands and thousands of cards.
They don't want to call the grocery store and have them find and remove the compromised cards. That would call their product into question.
Personally, I haven't had any bad cards since the redesign and the increase to the $6.95 fee. Has anyone else?
Ah that makes sense then. Thanks.
