I went out of my way to route my flight through SFO for Dec/ Jan just to fly the 747-800. I'm booked in Prestige both ways. I've never been on the nose section of any 747.
To my knowledge the only « buy-up » they offer is modifying your reservation to the upper class (full cost as seen online), or mileage upgrade if your ticket class is eligible.
