Dave actually said "e.g. at the moment, if you were to take a flight with CX you would have no lounge access rights at T3 whereas as BA Silver you would get access to the AA lounge ( which your QF club card wouldnt )". That is correct. If you were a QF Club member with no OW status, you'd get access to the LHR T3 Admirals Club only if you were flying AA or BA (arguably in the case of the latter because BA no longer have their own lounge in T3 and are now using AA facilities, more's the pity). If you are flying CX, as a non-status QF Club member you get zilch.
