I always check my cards activation and balance either online or by phone after an hour has passed, and I've never had an issue. All the branches I do MOs and BPs at believe I'm utilizing a bank debit card, so I must be sure they're going to work without any problems, as it would be difficult to explain why my "legit" bank debit card failed.
Why are you messing with the PIN anyway, as there is no preset PIN, the very first PIN you utilize auto becomes the PIN.
I agree it makes absolutely no sense. But it was my experience. I had no issues with these cards…until I did. So yeah, you’re right changing the pin is an unnecessary step that I now skip, and for whatever reason I’ve had no issues using the cards as usual. There are several reports of people experiencing fraud locks on Vanilla/SS and having to call in to clear it. The only conclusion drawn was changing the pin online before using the card somehow was triggering the fraud lock. Lesson learned.
