I don't use jarred sauce but my pasta go to is usually a lemon juice, olive oil, garlic combo or a carbonara with bacon or pancetta from the freezer. I always have fresh basil so if I happen to have fresh cherry or grape tomatoes I have dinner...bonus if there are some kalamata olives to throw in.
It’s more of a toss-up than a preference on my part. But I have to take others’ opinions into consideration. I was given a spiralizer about 10 years ago. It’s had a workout. 9 times out of 10, it’s zucchini, but we’ve done other squash, sweet potato, pumpkin.

And, yes I throw sliced olives into my pasta sauce if I have them (and usually do). I’ll either chop up ham to add or if there’s no ham, then I prefer green olives because they’re saltier. And garlic. Because they don’t make a jar sauce that’s garlicky enough for my taste.

I was introduced to the ham by our post-hurricane caterer. The first time I fished out a strip of cold cut ham from my pasta, I was WTH? But I love it. Could also be bacon. It’s really about the smoke and salt, I think.

You made me wonder about spiralized breakfast potatoes. I will have to experiment some morning this week.
